Introducing Thelpousa High Phenolic Olive Oil, a premium extra virgin olive oil crafted from a blend of the Olympia-Choraitiki and Koroneiki olive varieties. This oil is exceptionally rich in polyphenols, making it ideal for enhancing the flavor of salads or for raw consumption. Its name honors the ancient town of Thelpousa, located in the heart of Greece.
The olives are grown in the village of Chora, situated 35 km from Ancient Olympia at an altitude of 436 meters, within the estate "Ladon." Here, the indigenous Olympia-Choraitiki olive variety thrives.
This well renowned Extra Virgin Olive Oil Ladon Thelpousa is high in polyphenols and squalene. Olive oils containing high levels of polyphenolic elements are closely associated with many nutritional and healthcare benefits, such as:
- Helping with lower blood pressure
- Protecting arteries from damage
- Reducing levels of bad cholesterol
- Lowering the risk of developing type II diabetes
- Helping the prevention of various types of cancer
- Reduced the risk of strokes
- Aids with combating premature aging
- Decreased risk of developing depression and dementia
- Slows the progression of Alzheimer's by up to 40%
- Reduces inflammation in the whole body
These oils come from an olive variety dating back at least 2,500 years, from which the "Kotinos" wreath was made. This wreath was presented to the victors of the ancient Olympic Games, symbolizing world peace and freedom.
The Olympic wreath, made of olive leaves, replaced the previous prize of an apple in 752 BC, during the Sixth Olympics. The change was attributed to Hercules, who introduced the olive branch as a symbol of honor and divine protection. According to myth, Hercules brought the olive tree to Olympia from Crete or the northern lands, planting it as a lasting tribute to the gods. This olive tree marked the beginning of the tradition of crowning Olympic champions with an olive branch, a custom later affirmed after consultation with the Oracle of Delphi.
Recommended Consumption and Storage:
- Should be treated as a food supplement, where it is consumed daily (in order to fully reap the benefits) and preferably raw on your foods and salads
- For example, a light drizzle over a salad or as a 20g raw supplement (just over a tablespoon)
- It is recommended to use it quickly, before the Best Before date. Once it is opened it is critical to take care of it in order to minimize the loss of the phenolic content and preserve the integrity of its health benefits.
- Close the bottle well after every use. Phenolic compounds will simply evaporate from an open bottle within a short period of time
- Storing olive oil in a cool dark place will prolong its qualities of extra virginity and high phenolic content.
